POSTOPERATIVE REHABILITATION AFTER KNEE ARTHROSCOPY
Postoperative rehabilitation following knee arthroscopy is one of the most common reasons clients seek our assistance. While knee arthroscopy is now a routine surgical procedure that causes less trauma to the joint and surrounding tissues compared to other knee surgeries, high-quality physical therapy is essential for restoring full knee function.
Any injury, including surgical procedures, leads to a natural decrease in muscle strength and endurance. To prevent reinjury and address the root cause of the problem in the long term, proper physical therapy is necessary following knee arthroscopy or any other knee surgery.
PHYSICAL THERAPY
To ensure long-term recovery and minimize the risk of reinjury, our approach is fully individualized and follows the latestpostoperative protocols. Rehabilitation focuses on restoring range of motion and mobility, promoting tissue regeneration, and strengthening key muscles—particularly the vastus medialis, which plays a crucial role in the last 10 degrees of knee extension, and the quadriceps, the knee’s primary stabilizer, which is the first muscle to atrophy after a knee injury.
In addition to manual therapy, which is the core of the rehabilitation process, we utilize various electrotherapy procedures such as TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), IFS (Interferential Stimulation), muscle stimulation, laser therapy, and ultrasound therapy. These techniques help warm the deep muscle structures, accelerate recovery, and complement essential targeted therapeutic exercises, which restore full range of motion and functionality to the knee.
