WHY IS POSTPARTUM THERAPY IMPORTANT?

During pregnancy and after childbirth, the body undergoes numerous physical and emotional changes. Postpartum therapy is designed to support your recovery journey, reduce pain, and gradually restore your body’s strength and function.

Physical Therapy After Childbirth

New mothers often experience diastasis recti, lower back pain, and pelvic floor discomfort. In cases of cesarean section, there may also be discomfort around the scar area. Additionally, due to frequent baby-carrying and a hunched (kyphotic) posture, issues with the cervical and thoracic spine are common.

Muscles are under strain and overworked, while sleep deprivation prevents spinal discs from properly regenerating, increasing the likelihood of spinal problems. One of the more common conditions is cervicobrachial syndrome, which presents with tingling sensations and weakness in the arms.

Through individualized therapy, postpartum rehabilitation focuses on:

  • Diastasis recti: Addressing the increased separation of abdominal muscles, which weakens the abdominal wall and can lead to back pain.

  • Back and joint pain rehabilitation: Alleviating pain caused by changes during pregnancy and childbirth, particularly in the lower back.

  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation: Strengthening the pelvic muscles to reduce incontinence and restore functionality. We incorporate DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization) exercises to activate targeted muscles.

  • Cesarean section recovery: Working on scar tissue mobilization, improving mobility, and restoring sensation.

Kinesitherapy

Kinesiotherapy is a key component of postpartum therapy and, together with physical therapy, provides a comprehensive approach to restoring full functionality for new mothers.

Our kinesiotherapists will assist you in:

  • Gradual restoration of physical fitness: Strengthening muscles through targeted therapeutic exercises and reducing diastasis recti and pain using DNS techniques.

  • Postural correction: Improving posture to prevent kyphotic (hunched) alignment.

Individualized Approach and Support

Our physiotherapists create personalized therapy programs tailored to your specific needs and goals. After the initial session, you will receive all the necessary information regarding the therapy plan and intensity.
