Musculoskeletal System • Abdomen • Thyroid • Breasts • Blood Vessels & Veins
Diagnostic ultrasound (US) is a non-invasive imaging method used to assess changes in muscles, tendons, joints, ligaments, and other parts of the musculoskeletal system, as well as the abdomen, thyroid, breasts, blood vessels, and veins. It provides a detailed view of the affected area and allows for a precise and reliable diagnosis.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound:
Ultrasound can be used to identify and diagnose:
- Muscle, tendon, or ligament tears or strains (partial or complete ruptures)
- Calcifications in the shoulder, knee, elbow, and heel spurs
- Hematomas, edema, joint inflammation, and joint effusions
- Tendinitis or tendinopathy (e.g., tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, patellar tendinitis, biceps tendinitis, Achilles tendinitis)
- Shoulder or hip impingement
- Lipomas
Additional Ultrasound Examinations:
- Thyroid gland
- Breasts
- Testicles
- Salivary glands
- Blood vessels and veins
Abdominal Ultrasound
Abdominal ultrasound is one of the most commonly performed diagnostic procedures due to its non-invasive nature, quick results, and safety. It allows examination of organs within the abdominal cavity and helps diagnose:
- Inflammation of the appendix, gallbladder, or pancreas
- Free fluid in the abdominal cavity
- Kidney stones, cysts, or gallstones
- Enlarged liver or spleen
- Liver cirrhosis or hepatic cysts
- Abdominal aortic aneurysms
All diagnostic ultrasound procedures are performed by experienced radiologists, as well as orthopaedic and physical medicine specialists, with many years of expertise in musculoskeletal diagnostics.
Ultrasound diagnostics of the abdomen, thyroid, breasts, and blood vessels are conducted by board-certified radiologists.
