Post-Surgical Therapy for Breast Surgery & Mastectomy

Following breast cancer surgery or mastectomy, nearby lymph nodes are often removed, disrupting lymphatic flow and potentially leading to lymphedema (swelling due to lymph fluid buildup).

If some or all lymph nodes under the arm are removed, the risk of developing lymphedema persists for life. Additionally, radiation therapy for breast cancer can cause scarring and blockages, further increasing the risk. Lymphedema may develop immediately after surgery or radiation but can also appear months or even years later.

Lymphedema can cause discomfort, reduced mobility, and impact daily life quality.

Early Symptoms of Lymphedema:

Reduced arm function
A sensation of heaviness or weakness in the arm
Mild swelling that disappears when the arm is elevated

At this early stage, lymphedema is treatable, but it is often overlooked. If left untreated, it can progress to a stage where severe swelling becomes irreversible.

Therapy & Treatment Approach

Our comprehensive therapy for post-mastectomy patients includes:

✔ Lymphatic Drainage Therapy – Helps reduce swelling and improve circulation.
✔ MSTR Scar Tissue Release Therapy – A specialized technique that restores blood flow, reduces scar visibility, and improves sensation in the treated area.
✔ Targeted Therapeutic Exercises – Designed to restore full range of motion and prevent stiffness.

If you’ve undergone breast surgery or lymph node removal, early lymphatic drainage therapy is crucial to prevent and manage complications effectively.
